Steve Folk ist ein englischer zeitgenössischer Singer / Songwriter, oder wie die Deutschen sagen, Liedermacher. Er verbringt die meiste Zeit damit, in ganz Europa unterwegs zu sein, um alle Arten von Konzerten für alle Arten von Publikum zu spielen. Wenn er auf dem Kontinent nicht in einem Zug, dem Flugzeug oder mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs ist, lebt Steve auf den britischen Wasserstraßen auf seinem Hausboot - ein echter Wander Troubadour.

Seine Lieder knüpfen an die traditionsreiche englische Folkmusik an, werden aber immer auch durch Popeinflüsse ergänzt.Tragen die Songs auffallend oft Namen von Städten wie Amsterdam und New York, so handeln seine Texte von ganz alltäglichen Dingen. Wie das vorbeiziehen der Themse, das er jeden Tag beobachten kann. Nicht selten fungieren seine Beobachtungen als Metaphern und Symbole und bekommen so einen tieferen Sinn.

Steve Folk is an English contemporary Singer/Songwriter, or as the Germans say, Liedermacher, he spends most of his time traveling around Europe, performing all manner of concerts for all types of audiences. If he's not on a train, plane or bicycle on the continent, you will find Steve moving his floating home throughout the waterways of the UK, a real traveling troubadour.

Steve is heavily influenced by the world around him rather than other music, and particularly his own personal experience of place, nature and the unique relationship he has with the river. Likened to artists such as Ralph McTell, Neil Young, Paul Simon and Donovan, Steve's love of the English language and his insatiable desire to write personal yet accessible songs is what makes him a truly unique songwriter.

Steve prefers grassroots to smoke and mirrors, intimacy over mystique and for him diversity will always win over tradition.
