Weiblicher Part, tierischer Part, so ist die Stimme von She Owl gestimmt nach den Kreaturen des Waldes: Leicht, vorsichtig wie ein Jäger zweifelhafter nächtlicher Schatten und doch intensiv und heftig wie ein Biss in die Ohren. Die Musik ist wild und bewegend, einschneidend bis auf die Knochen, eine Mischung aus Dunkelheit, Zartheit und Verzweiflung, entfacht von psychedelischen und neoklassischen Flammen. Die Performance der Band ist angelegt als eine ursprüngliche Erfahrung, die es mit dem Publikum zu teilen gilt, ein musikalisches, theatralisches und tiefempfundenes Angebot, das offen ist für das Außergewöhnliche.
Zwei Jahre nach dem gleichnamigen Debutalbum, zwei Jahre , die sie meist unterwegs waren und live spielten, präsentiert das Dream-Folk-Duo She Owl nun ihre neue EP Animal Eey.
Alle Lieder kommen aus perkussiven, ursprünglichen Elementen: Herzschlag, Atem, Erdbeben, dem Pulsieren der Sterne. Die Musik ist wild, gespielt mit offenem Herzen, offenem Geist und offenen Augen. Die Songs sind direkt inspiriert von Jolandas und Demians Leben, verstecken hinter symbolischen Texten ihre ganz eigenen Wunden, täglichen kleinen Tode und Wiedergeburten.
Während das erste Album einem Rock-Folk-Soundtrack für Märchen gleicht, ist das zweite mehr auf Schlagwerk und Gesangsperformance ausgelegt, um die lebendige rauhe Energie des Duos einzufangen, die sie auf der Bühne wie eine ganze Band erscheinen lässt.
Kritik wie Öffentlichkeit loben die Einzigartigkeit und Originalität von She Owls Reise: die pedantische Auswahl ungewöhlicher Instrumente (Kalimba, Indisches Harmonium, Autoharp, Rahmentrommeln) und Arrangements, der sowohl bewegende als auch erzählende Einsatz von Jolandas Stimme, der Gebrauch der Texte, Symbolik und intensiven Mythen für die kollektive Seele.

She Owl leben und arbeiten zwischen Paris und San Francisco und verstecken sich zuweilen in einem kleinen Dorf in den nordwestlichen italienischen Wäldern nahe der Wölfe, Eulen, wilden Natur und ihrer alten faszinerenden Geschichten.

Two years after the namesake debut, two years spent mostly traveling and playing live, dream-folk duo She Owl presents their new LP Animal Eye.
All the songs come from percussive, tribal, primordial elements: heartbeat, breath, earth-quakes, the pulse of the stars. Music is feral, performed with open heart, open mind and open eyes.
The songs are directly inspired by Jolanda and Demian’s personal life, hiding behind symbolic lyrics their own special wounds, their everyday little deaths and rebirths.While the first album is a rock-folk soundtrack for fairytales, the later is more focused on drum parts and vocal performances, in order to capture the duo’s live raw energy which make them sound onstage like a full band.Recorded in San Francisco at The Complex Studio by George S. Rosenthal, Animal Eye is produced and arranged by Jolanda and Demian.

Part female, part animal, She Owl's voice is in tune with the creatures of forest: light, delicate as a hunter of fearful night shades yet intense and fierce as a bite into the ears. The music is wild and evocative, cut to the bones, a blend of darkness, tenderness and despair ignited by psychedelic and neoclassical flames. The band's performance is intended to be a tribal experience to share together with the audience, a musical, theatrical and heartfelt offer that is open to the extraordinary.
Latest project of multi-instrumentalist and storyteller Jolanda Moletta (italian-born but officialy adopted by the independent music scene of the Bay Area), She Owl recorded their first critically acclaimed full-length debut in San Francisco with the participation of Dave Mihaly (Jolie Holland, Ara Anderson), Roberta Cartisano, Mark Nelsen (Electric Shepherd), Atiba Starr (Blue Sky Black Death) and other local musicians as well. The record has been released on October 7th, 2013 by Broken Toys, PPZK (Peter Piek) in Europe and DIT Records (Amanda Rogers) in the US.
She Owl plays live as a duo or as a full band. Their astonishing live performances around the US and Europe have been compared to the ones of My Brightest Diamond, Agnes Obel, Bat for Lashes, PJ Harvey, Dead Can Dance, Nico.
In the last years Jolanda shared the stage with artists like Cocorosie, Joan as Policewoman, Kaki King, The Last Internationale.
Critics and public claim however the uniqueness and the originality of She Owl's journey: the meticulous research of uncommon instruments (kalimba, indian harmonium, autoharp, frame drums) and arrangements, the use of Jolanda's voice, both evocative and narrative, the lyrics, symbolic and intense fables for the collective soul.
Fiercely independent, She Owl's music is nowadays part of the endangered species: delicate as the wind in the trees, unfamiliar as an ancient fairytale, liberating like drums around the fire and frightening as a bird of prey.
She Owl works and lives between Paris and San Francisco, and sometimes hides in a small village in the NW italian woods, close to wolves, owls, wild nature and their ancient, spellbinding stories."
