iris ist 100 Meter vom Meer entfernt in Frosta, Norwegen, aufgewachsen und hat ihre 20er Jahre damit verbracht, ihrer Kunst nachzugehen und als Bäckerin in Berlin zu arbeiten. In poetischen Songs verbindet Alt-Folk-Künstlerin iris mar die Stille norwegischer Fjorde mit den pulsierenden Widersprüchen Berlins. 2024 veröffentlichte sie ihr Debütalbum SALT.
Die Multiinstrumentalistin singt auf Hochzeiten, in Bars, Theatern und Gärten, manchmal mit ihrer Geige und meistens mit ihrer silbernen Resonatorgitarre oder ihrer roten E-Gitarre. Sie hat ihre Wurzeln in der nordischen Volksmusik und ist in Complete Vocal Technique ausgebildet.
In ihrem Soloprojekt iris mar gießt sie ihr Herz und ihre Seele in eine Welt, die ganz ihre eigene ist.
Außerdem ist sie Teil von Lausonga, einem Duo mit Hans Mikkel Melhus, in dem sie auf Norwegisch die Saiten zupft und Harmonien singt.
Shaken Baby ist ihr experimentelles Projekt mit Conor Cunningham, bei dem rhythmische Geige und effektvolles Saxophon auf Poesie in norwegischer Sprache treffen.
Sie komponiert Musik für Tanzaufführungen und Filme.
Iris hat bereits zwei Singles veröffentlicht, Sleeping Beauty (2020) und Sunshine (2021) mit ihrem Projekt Marie Mill.

In poetic songs, alt-folk artist iris mar combines the tranquillity of Norwegian fjords with the pulsating contradictions of Berlin. In 2024, she released her debut album SALT.
iris had a musical upbringing 100 meters from the sea in Frosta, Norway, and has spent her 20's pursuing her artistry and working as a baker in Berlin.
She has been performing live shows and connecting with audiences for years. The multi-instrumentalist sings in weddings, bars, theatres and gardens, sometimes with her fiddle and usually with her silver resonator guitar or her red electric. She has roots in nordic folk music and is trained in Complete Vocal Technique.
In her solo project iris mar, she pours her heart and soul into a world that is her very own.
She is also part of Lausonga, a duo with Hans Mikkel Melhus, strumming strings and singing harmonies in Norwegian.
Shaken Baby is her experimental project with Conor Cunningham, where rhythmic fiddle and effected saxophone meets poetry in Norwegian.
She composes music for dance performances and film.
