Josh Island’s Sound lehnt sich John Mayer, Ben Howard und Jason Mraz an; eine Kombination aus Story-driven Folk-Pop, ein wenig Jazz und warmem Soul-Blues.
Im kleinen Großherzogtum Luxemburg, wo Josh aufgewachsen ist, hat der gebürtige Niederländer sich die Grundsteine einer vielseitigen, internationalen Karriere gelegt.

Mit 16 Jahren drehte er bereits die ersten Runden in der lokalen Musikszene, wo er für seine facettenreiche Stimme und engagierte Bühnenpräsenz bekannt wurde. In den folgenden Jahren eröffnete er Konzerte für unter anderem Mighty Oaks, Hannah Epperson, Charlie Cunningham, Leif Vollebekk, Alex Vargas und Welshly Arms, spielte auf dem Sonic Visions und Liverpool Sound City Festival, und wurde durch die Königlichen Familien der Benelux-Staaten zur Teilnahme an einem Konzert eingeladen. Der australische Roots-Musiker John Butler meinte: „Josh hat eine beeindruckende Stimme und ein großartiges Gitarrenspiel.“
Dass der 21-Jährige heute quer durch Europa reist, reflektiert sich in seiner internationalen Ausstrahlung und seinen fesselnden Songs. Mit über 150 gespielte Konzerte arbeitet der junge Songwriter momentan auf Hochtouren an seiner zweiten Platte, die Anfang 2020 veröffentlicht wird.

Josh Island’s international upbringing and interactive charisma are at the core of his songwriting and live performing. A storyteller by heart, the 21-year-old combines folk-pop with warm soul-blues and a touch of jazz. His sound has been likened to that of John Mayer, Lianne La Havas and Jamie Cullum.

​Starting out his career in the local Luxembourg music scene aged 16, Josh Island toured through small bars and open-mic circuits, quickly gaining recognition for his warm vocal presence, organic folk-picking and entertaining showmanship. By asking audiences in student towns to invite him over for intimate and personal living room concerts, he steadily grew a solid fanbase with acoustic pop-up shows. This DIY approach has led him to open up for an array of international acts, including James Morrison, Welshly Arms, Mighty Oaks, Charlie Cunningham, Alex Vargas and Leif Vollebekk.

​Since starting out in 2015, Josh Island has performed nearly 200 concerts throughout Europe, with showcases at Liverpool Sound City and Sonic Visions Festival, and a slot at the Dutch touring festival Popronde. Upon special request he has performed for the three royal families of the Benelux states, and establish himself as a prominent figure within the European Union to promote its shared values and opportunities through musical performance.
